Aurat Foundation presented a strategy to reduce tobacco usage in Pakistan at the Women’s Parliamentary Caucus’ (WPC) Third General Assembly Meeting on August 28, 2024, at the Parliament House in Islamabad.

Syed Safdar Raza, Mumtaz Mughal, Mehak Fatima Jafry from Aurat Foundation, Dr. Khalil Ahmed from SPARC, and Arooj Rajput from HDF presented the plan.

The Women’s Parliamentary Caucus agreed to work on four key areas: banning novel tobacco products, amending existing federal laws, increasing taxes on tobacco products, and enhancing graphic health warnings to 75%.

This collaboration aims to combat tobacco usage and promote public health through legislative measures.
