British Deputy High Commissioner Sarah Mooney and Deputy Head of Mission Martin Dawson met with Provincial Minister of Culture and Tourism Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah, discussion on access and handover of important ancient records of Sindh in the British Library

The British delegation also attended the junior chef cooking competition at PITHM

Karachi June 15, British Deputy High Commissioner Sarah Mooney and Deputy Head of Mission Martin Dawson met Provincial Minister of Culture and Tourism Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah in his office and discussed various issues including the establishment of British Culture Corners in Divisional Libraries of Sindh and the need to make bilateral tourism and cultural relations more effective.

In the meeting, Provincial Minister Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah also discussed the access and handover of the important ancient records of Sindh in the British Library.

Shah said that the British libraries have important documents including barrages of Sindh which are important for the historical and geographical status of Sindh. We want to make it possible for the people of Sindh to access historical information, so there is a need for bilateral efforts regarding the handover of records, he said.

Shah said that there are a lot of historical antiquities of the British era in Sindh which can cause historical awareness for the people of both the countries.

Shah aalso assured the British Deputy High Commissioner to provide space for British culture corners in the divisional libraries and said that Pakistan is an excellent country for British tourists to visit.

The British delegation assured to facilitate access and extradition of historical documents of Sindh and to make it easier for Pakistani tourists to obtain British visas.

At the end of the meeting, Provincial Minister Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah presented the traditional Sindhi Ajrak, and replicas of King Priest and Dancing Girl memorial to the guests.

Meanwhile, the British delegation along with Provincial Minister Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah also visited Pakistan Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (PITHM) and various parts including kitchen and library and attended the ‘Junior Chefs Competition’ there. The British delegation has distributed the prizes and appreciation certificates among the position holders and participants and also enjoyed cooking with the junior chefs.

While appreciating PITHM’s initiative to encourage children, the British delegation said that they are happy to participate in the cooking competition among junior chefs, it is the duty of all of us to provide healthy activities and opportunities to our children.

On this occasion, Provincial Minister Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah said that the purpose of teaching skills to children is to make them capable and strong, so we will continue such skillful activities to make the young generation independent.
