Mirpur Mathelo :Awami Tehreek Condemns Targeted Killings of Journalists and Teachers in Sindh, Calls for Immediate Action. They demanded formation of a high-level judicial inquiry commission comprising sitting supreme Court judges to investigate and prosecute all involved in aiding and abetting criminal activities, including the illicit supply of NATO’s weapons to bandits.

Awami Tehreek expresses deep concern over the alarming increase in targeted killings of journalists and teachers in Sindh, highlighting a systematic conspiracy behind these heinous acts. The recent martyrdom of journalist Nasrullah Gadani has sparked outrage among conscientious citizens, representing a direct attack on freedom of press and expression.

A delegation from Awami Tehreek, led by Central President Lal Jarwar, Central General Secretary Noor Ahmed Katiar, Advocate Izhar Daudpoto, Sarwan Jatoi, Rahib Malano, and Toheed Ahmed, met with Nasrullah Gadani’s family on Thursday, June 13, 2024, extending heartfelt condolences. They pledged unwavering political and legal support to uphold justice and preserve the integrity of the free press.

While speaking with the media on that occasion, Awami Tehreek leaders emphasized that Nasrullah Gadani’s tragic demise is not an isolated incident but rather part of a broader scheme to silence dissent and suppress the collective conscience of Sindh. They lamented the complicit role of authorities in failing to apprehend perpetrators, thereby allowing impunity to prevail.

Moreover, the leaders deplored the deteriorating law and order situation in upper Sindh districts such as Ghotki, Kashmore-Kandhkot, Sukkur, Jacobabad, and Shikarpur, where criminal elements have brazenly challenged the state’s authority. They criticized the government’s passive stance, asserting that local chiefs, feudal lords, and officials shield criminals, perpetuating chaos.

Awami Tehreek urged Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa to take suo motu notice of these grave injustices.

Awami Tehreek called upon the Supreme Court to fulfill its constitutional mandate in upholding the rule of law and safeguarding fundamental freedoms. They reiterated their commitment to fighting against impunity and for the restoring peace and security in Sindh.
