Karachi (June 28): The appointment of Abdul Rasheed Solangi as the Director General of Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) has led to a significant crackdown on illegal constructions in Karachi and Hyderabad regions. As per details issued today by the SBCA that over the past three months, the SBCA has demolished, sealed, and taken legal action against more than 357 illegal constructions in Karachi and over 40 in Hyderabad. These actions include addressing illegal additional floors, unauthorized portions, land misuse, wedding halls, and shops. The demolition team has been actively working without any interruptions, ensuring the halt of illegal constructions.
Provincial Minister for Local Government, Saeed Ghani, has issued stringent directives, under which DG Abdul Rasheed Solangi has been actively monitoring and addressing complaints regarding illegal constructions, preventing unauthorized structures, and ensuring transparency in the demolition process. Minister Local Government Saeed Ghani emphasized the commitment to dismantling the plans of those attempting to turn Karachi into a concrete jungle, stating that action will be taken against all illegal constructions, whether new or old. The ongoing campaign under the supervision and special attention of DG SBCA has already started showing positive results, with a notable decline in unauthorized constructions and discouragement of those involved in such activities.

Director General of the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA), Abdul Rasheed Solangi, recently convened a strategic meeting with the Commissioner of Karachi and Deputy Commissioners from various districts to enhance the ongoing crackdown on illegal constructions. During this meeting, they discussed coordinated efforts to streamline and intensify the demolition campaign. In addition to the meeting, DG Solangi conducted surprise visits to various construction sites across the city, personally overseeing the demolition activities and ensuring compliance with legal standards. His active involvement and hands-on approach have been pivotal in driving the success of the anti-illegal construction initiative, showcasing the SBCA’s commitment to restoring order and legal compliance in the construction sector.
Details of the recent actions taken by SBCA reveal that the highest number of illegal constructions affected were in Karachi’s District Central with 185 cases, followed by District East with 91, District South with 55, District Korangi with 18, District West with 7, and District Keamari with 1 case. Additionally, 40 illegal constructions in Hyderabad were also demolished and subjected to other legal actions. This record number, averaging more than 125 cases per month, highlights SBCA’s effectiveness in its demolition performance, with the daily campaign continuing robustly.
