Shell Pakistan set up Pakistan’s first recycled plastic retail site in Karachi. The construction of the site used the equivalent of 1.3 million tonnes of plastic waste.

Shell Pakistan Limited has set up Pakistan’s first recycled plastic retail site on Karachi’s main road, Shaara Faisal, under the name Malik Service Station. Collaborated with Dabir Himani and Syed Ali Naqi, co-founder of Concept Loop to bring this vision to life. About 6,500 kg or 1.3 million equivalent plastic waste was used in the construction of the retail site.  The newly constructed retail site represents an important step towards a more sustainable future.

Speaking on the occasion of the inauguration of the site, Waqar Siddiqui, Chief Executive and Managing Director of Shell Pakistan Limited said, “We are incredibly proud to inaugurate this one-of-a-kind retail site. Such innovative solutions need to be experimented and tried. The success of the plastic road and recycled plastic site could be an incentive for future infrastructure development.

Constructed from recycled plastic, the initiative is in line with Shell Pakistan’s commitment to sustainability and promotes circular economy and environment-friendly practices.
