Karachi Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon stated that the administration is actively responding to the rain situation across the province. In Karachi, the Mayor stayed awake all night to oversee drainage efforts, while the Mayors of Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas are also present on-site. Our MPs and MNAs are on the ground, and as long as the situation persists, they will continue to be present. The Chief Minister of Sindh is personally visiting the rain-affected areas, and the Irrigation Minister is also on duty at this time. Government machinery is active in all districts, including Karachi, with our ministers, chairmen, councilors, and mayors all fully engaged.
Addressing a press conference in Karachi, Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said that When natural disasters occur, it is not the job of governments to sit back, it is the job of governments to be in the field. Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and President Asif Ali Zardari had special instructions that everyone has to be present on the field. The entire situation was being monitored by the leader of the People’s Party Ms. Faryal Talpur herself and she had assigned the duties of KMPs and MNAs in all the districts to be present in the affected areas. Stating the data, he said that the highest rainfall in Sindh has been recorded in Badin district. Shaheed Fazil Rahu of Badin recorded the highest rainfall of 190 mm, 168 mm in Badin, 164 mm in Matli, 190 mm in Shaheed Fazil Raho, 118 mm in Talhar. 101 mm in Hyderabad city and 96 mm in rural areas of Hyderabad, 101 mm in Latifabad and 168 mm in Qasimabad, 157 mm in Mirpurkhas, 159 mm in Degree, 155 mm in Hussain Bakhsh Murree. , 145 mm in Shujaabad, 136 mm in Sindhri 127 mm was recorded in Pithoro Umarkot, 120 mm in Kunri, 115 mm in Umarkot. He said that there is no positive response from HESCO and SEPCO on our efforts to deal with emergency situations during rains. I have also spoken to the federal government, the chief minister of Sindh has also issued instructions. Drainage is possible when the pumping machines are running, we have most of the machines running on electricity, and there have been problems due to electricity.
Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon stated that Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari distributed solar panels yesterday, marking a significant turning point in Pakistan’s history. This provision of relief is not just a temporary measure; it is a long-term commitment. The late leader of the People’s Party, Shaheed Ms. Benazir Bhutto, had envisioned the Thar Coal project, which was halted after her government ended. President Asif Ali Zardari later revived the project. Tharparkar coal will transform Pakistan’s future, and our future generations will witness electricity generated from Tharparkar coal being exported. Currently, Pakistan’s cheapest electricity is generated from Tharparkar coal. The People’s Party does not believe in superficial relief, temporary measures, or photo sessions; instead, it aims to implement initiatives that will benefit our people today and future generations.
He added that Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto made Pakistan a nuclear power, and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto introduced missile technology, significantly enhancing the country’s defense capabilities. President Asif Ali Zardari, carrying forward the vision of Shaheed Bibi, initiated the extraction of coal from Tharparkar. Our goal is not merely to win favor but to change Pakistan’s future with Tharparkar coal, which will bring about the greatest revolution in the nation’s destiny.
Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon also highlighted that Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is providing free electricity to 200,000 families through solar panels. According to BISP data, these 200,000 deserving families will receive free solar electricity for life. This initiative by Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is revolutionary, as no other province in Pakistan has provided free solar energy the way the Sindh government is doing under his vision.
He stated that the Benazir Income Support Program continues to this day; governments have come and gone, and the name of the program has been changed, but the project was so effective that no one could stop it. The People’s Party has initiated projects that provide lifelong relief to the people. Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon mentioned that under the vision of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, houses for 2.1 million families are being constructed across Sindh, providing shelter to those affected by floods. He expressed confidence that the day is not far when the Pakistan People’s Party will form the federal government.
He further stated that no other province has been able to provide facilities like Thar Coal, Solar Energy, or the other services offered by the Sindh government, including state-of-the-art hospitals. People who make big claims travel to Sindh from their provinces for treatment, and we welcome them. These facilities are provided for the entire nation, with a vision rooted in philanthropy. People from around the world are coming to Sindh for treatment with CyberKnife technology.
Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon urged other provinces to follow Sindh’s model. He suggested that other provinces establish NICVDs, bring CyberKnife technology, and facilitate free liver and kidney transplants, promising Sindh’s support in these initiatives. This would benefit all Pakistanis and save countless lives. He emphasized that the PPP doesn’t just make promises; it takes action. The government is working on state-of-the-art projects, including internationally recognized housing projects. The Government of Sindh is making efforts in every aspect of life.
He also highlighted the introduction of EV buses, pink buses, and the upcoming launch of the first EV taxi. Concluding, he stated that Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has instructed the party to serve the people and develop long-term programs that will benefit both the current population and future generations.
Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon stated that the anti-narcotics team has arrested an NGO involved in drug peddling. These NGOs also carried media cards to avoid being stopped. He emphasized that drug dealers and users will not be pardoned under any circumstances. The Sindh government is taking steps, including starting drug tests in schools and colleges, and a serious crackdown on narcotics is underway, which will be intensified. Efforts will also focus on preventing drug use in private gatherings and homes. He clarified that their fight is not personal against anyone but is directed at drug dealers. Sindh Police, Pakistan Rangers, ANF, and Excise Narcotics Control are determined to eliminate drugs at all costs. NGOs will undergo scrutiny, and a Facebook page used for drug sales has been seized. He noted that drugs are often behind significant negative events.
In response to a question, he said that PTI was artificially given power in 2018, and it’s shameful that they had no real mandate. The damage PTI has caused to the country in their three-and-a-half-year rule is evident to everyone. PTI has not achieved anything remarkable to date; misbehavior on social media, and the events of May 9 are their notable actions. PTI’s leadership has exposed the youth to harmful rhetoric and dirty language on social media. It was a political mafia that misled young people, and what this mafia has done to the country is detrimental. PTI is now fractured, from its leader’s house to its organizational structure. It is better not to engage in politics over chaos and foreign funding issues.
He further commented that the Election Commission stated that PTI received funding from India and Israel, and questioned why the law did not act at that time. The government of that period bears official responsibility for this. Actions like foreign funding and attacking the parliament should have been punished, but decisions were not made according to the law, worsening the situation.
In response to another question, he stated that MQM is not our ally, nor are they our partner in the federal government. At this point, MQM is only issuing statements, and I neither take their statements seriously nor should you.
Addressing another question, he expressed sorrow over the events unfolding in Balochistan, noting that innocent and vulnerable people have been martyred, and security forces have been attacked. He emphasized that weapons are never the solution to problems, and the incidents in Balochistan constitute serious acts of terrorism. The federal government has announced that it will take strict action against the terrorists, and we fully support this stance.
