Karachi A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Commissioner Karachi, Syed Hassan Naqvi, to review the arrangements for the main procession of Ashura .
All Deputy Commissioners, senior officers of Police, Rangers, and civic agencis attended the meeting. Religious scholars, Ulma Karam, and organizers of the processation also participated and presented their suggestions for better arrangements and identified civic issues for solutions.
General Secretary of the Jaferia Alliance Syed Shabbar Raza Rizvi also attended the meeting . It was decided that foolproof security would be provided on this occasion. It was also decided that civic authorities would ensure the cleanliness of the routes of the main processation and other prcocessasions , installation of street lights and resolution of sewerage issues would also be ensued at Imam bargah and places where majalis are to be held . The Commissioner directed all officials to perform their duties with utmost respect and dedication on this ocassion
The meeting also decided to make special arrangements for traffic management and ensure traffic flow. In this connection alternative routes and traffic diversions, would be provided to ensure smooth traffic flow during the procession. The Water and Sewerage Corporation will ensure the supply of drinking water for mourners, while the Solid Waste Management Board will make arrangements for cleanliness.
The meeting was attended among others by the deputy commissioners Addtional Commissioner Karachi I SyedGhulam Mehdi Assistant Commissioner HQ Rabia Syed officials MC, Town municipal administration, Cangtonmnet Baord Solid Waste Mangement Board, Wather and Sewerage Corporation ,police, and Rangers, It was decided that K-Electric will avoid load shedding during procession routes and majalis timings.
Meanwhile the Commissioner chaired a separate meeting with field officers of civic agencies and to be acquanted fully about the situation The Commissioner of Karachi directed concerned officials to take immediate and priority measures to address issues related to cleanliness, lighting, road maintenance, and sewage disposal in the city, particularly in areas surrounding main procession routes and imambargahs. The meeting was attended by field the officers from the Water and Sewerage Corporation, Solid Waste Management Board, Town Municipal Corporations, who briefed him on the current situation and identified various problems. The Commissioner instructed Deputy Commissioners Shehzad Abbasi and Altaf Sario to ensure the implementation of necessary measures for road repair, lighting arrangements, and cleanliness.
