The United States has contacted Pakistan to lift the travel ban on Khadija Shah, a well-known fashion designer involved in the May 9 cases.

The US Embassy has confirmed contacts with Pakistani authorities in the Khadija Shah case.

According to the American Embassy, the security and protection of its citizens is the most important for the United States, and they are insisting that the case of Khadija Shah be conducted according to Pakistani law from the beginning.

The US embassy added that Khadija Shah had been granted consular access five times, while clarifying that the case would continue to be monitored.

It should be remembered that Khadija Shah surrendered herself to the Lahore Police on 23 May 2023 on the charges of May 9 riots. She remained in jail for several months and appeared in court for hearing. He was released on bail by the Anti-Terrorism Commission.

The police claimed that she was one of the main instigators of the May 9 attacks on the Corps Commander House Lahore and was named in an FIR registered with the Sarwar Road police on terrorism and other charges.

It should be noted that the May 9 protests resulted in the arrest of thousands of PTI workers and supporters across the country, while several leaders left the party.
