Ishaq Mangrio was born in 1956 in a small town in Sanghar district, known for his writings on Sindh’s geography, culture, history and personalities.

Ishaq Mangrio remained associated with major Sindhi newspapers, however, writing in Urdu and English, he was known as an investigative journalist in Sindhi journalism.

He received his early education from the village, from Inter-Sanghar College, entered into practical life after graduation, Ishaq started his political career by working in nationalist organizations from his student days.

He then participated in progressive politics and was active in the struggle for farmers’ rights. He then turned his attention to journalism and worked as a reporter for Sanghar in “Jago” newspaper from 1992 to 1995.

After that, he worked in Daily Sindh from 1995 to 1999 and Kawish Media Network from 1999 to 2004. From 2004 to 2007, he was the Director of Documentary Section at Sindh TV.

From 2007 to 2008 worked as in-charge of election cell at Sindh TV. Ishaq Mangrio  also worked as a freelance columnist and feature writer for daily worship and affair magazine.

He is one of the few Sindhi journalists who pioneered the practice of investigative journalism. He introduced environmental journalism and has written many international peer-reviewed reports and features.

He has been participating in many environmental activities of international environmental organizations IUCN, WWF and UNDP. Ishaq Mangrio brought the life and history of Sindh’s leading characters to the masses through his pen, reporting on topics ranging from folk wisdom to anthropology, wildlife and cultural festivals.
