Karachi, – A two-day workshop on emergency preparedness in the animal health sector, focusing on zoonosis, concluded today in Karachi. The event brought together experts from Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan to assess and enhance their provinces’ animal health emergency management capabilities using the FAO’s PPEP tool.

Participants presented assessments and proposed action plans to improve emergency preparedness, aiming for self-sustaining capabilities through a multi-sectoral approach. Dr. Ehtisham ul Haq Khan, Project Coordinator – ECTAD, highlighted the tool’s crucial role in achieving this goal.

This initiative strengthens Pakistan’s animal health sector, mitigating the risk of zoonotic diseases and promoting a safer future for humans and animals alike.
