 SINDH FLOOD EMERGENCY REHABILITATION PROJECT,

CARETAKER MINISTER FOR FINANCE, REVENUE AND PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT SINDH  MUHAMMAD YOUNUS DAGHA PRESIDES MEETING REGARDING:


- SINDH FLOOD EMERGENCY REHABILITATION PROJECT,

 

- SINDH WATER AND AGRICULTURE TRANSFORMATION PROJECT (SWAT),

AND

- EMERGENCY FLOOD ASSISTANCE PROGRAMME.

 

Karachi  The Caretaker Minister for finance, revenue and planning and development Sindh Muhammad Younus Dagha presided over an important meeting regarding projects for the welfare of victims and rehabilitation the infrastructure affected by the catastrophic floods of 2022 in Sindh province. The meeting was held in Minister's office in Sindh secretariat Karachi.

               The projects which were discussed during the briefing are (1) the Sindh flood emergency rehabilitation project, (2) the World Bank's assisted Sindh Water and Agriculture transformation project (SWAT) and (3) emergency flood assistance Programme being supported by the Asian Development Bank .

On this occasion the caretaker provincial minister directed that instead of spending more time and cost on the paper work of the projects, the projects should be made feasible and operational as soon as possible.

               During the briefing in the meeting, the officers informed that in the first phase of the Rehabilitation work, infrastructure rehabilitation is being carried out, which includes the construction and repair of roads and the improvement of water lines.

 It was informed that satellite emergency rescue 1122 stations are being set up in the flood affected districts, and as soon as these centers are built, they will be handed over to the department of rehabilitation, which is responsible for their operation and maintenance. It was also informed in the meeting that the canal system with be modernized as pilot project on 3 canals to prevent wastage and theft of irrigation water.
