Hyderabad The Provincial Caretaker Minister for Sports, Youth Affairs, and Culture, Dr. Syed Junaid Ali Shah, has announced that Sindh will host a major sporting event called "Sindh Games" in December, to promote sports activities in the region. During a meeting at Darbar Hall in Hyderabad, Dr. Junaid Ali Shah emphasized the importance of engaging relevant officials in coordination with schools and colleges to groom young talent for representing Pakistan at national and international sporting events.
He highlighted the improvement in sports infrastructure, such as the construction of the State-of-the-Art Sports Complex for squash at Hyderabad Public School, and stressed the need for district administrations and district sports officers to play an active role in managing district sports committees. Dr. Junaid Ali Shah also requested additional funding of 200 million rupees from the provincial government to maintain sports grounds, aiming to provide more opportunities for young talents.
Furthermore, he urged the district sports committees to enhance their role in the utilization of funds for the operation and maintenance of sports facilities and create a sports structure at the district level. Dr. Junaid Ali Shah also mentioned plans to construct sports complexes and facilities in different districts, urging DCs and DSOs to identify locations for such projects.
In addition, the provincial minister encouraged the establishment of sports monitoring committees to boost sports activities at the district level, provide suggestions for improvement, and facilitate the execution of serious measures related to sports.
