Maryam Rahu Was a Proud Symbol of Sindh’s Fight for Rights: Awami Tehreek

Former leader of Sindhiyani Tehreek, Adi Maryam Rahu, has passed away. Her death brought deep sorrow and respectful tributes from Awami Tehreek and Sindhiyani Tehreek. Maryam Rahu was a brave and active part of Sindh’s movements for democracy and farmers' rights. She strongly stood against dictatorship, feudalism, martial law, and harmful traditions against women.
She was the sister of Shaheed-e-Awam Fazil Rahu and played a key role in the Movement for the Restoration of Democracy (MRD). Advocate Wasand Thari, President of Awami Tehreek, called her “a symbol of resistance and simplicity.” Advocate Sajid Mahesar, Secretary General, remembered her seven months in jail during the MRD and praised her strong writing in books like Panhil Pujana, Zindaan Udari Wendaseen, and Se Wara Veer Wachai Waya.
Sindhiyani Tehreek President Umrah Samo said she was the heart of the women’s movement. She led at the grassroots level with strong ideas and dedication. She followed the teachings of Rasool Bux Palijo and always worked for justice and democracy. Leaders urged everyone to continue her mission for people’s rights. Condolences were shared with her family and companions. Her life was called “a shining example of sacrifice and service to the people.”
