Awami Tehreek Leads Protest Rally Against Corporate Farming and Resource Exploitation in Sindh

Jhol/Sanghar — On May 31, 2025, Awami Tehreek staged a massive protest rally in Jhol against corporate farming, the construction of six canals, and the exploitation of Sindh’s mineral resources. Hundreds of participants marched under the intense heat to demand protection for Sindh’s lands and the Indus River.

Addressing the rally, Advocate Vasand Thari, Central President of Awami Tehreek, denounced corporate farming projects as attempts to strip Sindh of its identity and resources. Leaders further warned that the rapid development of the Bhasha Dam threatens Sindh’s future, calling it an anti-Sindh initiative.

Senior Vice President Noor Ahmed Katiar stressed that peaceful struggle has helped defeat oppression in the past and remains crucial today. District Sanghar President Attaullah Unar accused the Pakistan People's Party of compromising Sindh’s interests for political power.

The protest was attended by key figures from Sindhyani Tehreek, Sindhi Hari Tehreek, and other movements, reaffirming their commitment to resisting corporate control and preserving Sindh’s heritage. Leaders urged continued peaceful demonstrations to prevent further resource exploitation.
