Shazia Marri, the central spokesperson for the Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians (PPPP), has dismissed rumors about President Asif Ali Zardari’s resignation as false and fabricated. She stated that President Zardari remains active in the political arena and continues to be a strong voice in national politics.
The PPP has categorically rejected social media rumors suggesting President Zardari’s resignation. In an official statement, Shazia Marri clarified that these rumors are baseless. She emphasized that President Zardari has always led during difficult times and that history bears witness to his resilience in the face of dictatorship, imprisonment, and adversity.
She asserted that neither the PPP nor President Zardari ever back down from challenges. Marri highlighted that Zardari is the only politician who voluntarily transferred presidential powers to the parliament. His political foresight, she said, led to provincial autonomy, rights for Balochistan, and peace in Swat.
She added that President Zardari maintains strong relations with coalition partners, and without a two-thirds majority in the assemblies, the question of resignation is meaningless. Marri concluded by recalling that during a national crisis, it was Zardari who raised the slogan “Pakistan Khappay” (We want Pakistan). Now, he is poised to become the first civilian president in Pakistan’s history to complete two full terms in office.
