The Sindh government has begun distributing free Pink Scooties to women. In this regard, a ceremony was held in a private hall in Karachi under the auspices of the Transport Department. At the ceremony, the chief guest, Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, handed over the keys of the Pink Scooties to women and students.

Addressing the gathering, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said the Sindh government has always taken initiatives for the welfare of women. He mentioned that the Benazir Income Support Program, establishment of Women Police Stations, distribution of land to landless farmers, and allotment of flood-proof houses in women’s names were part of this commitment.

He added that the Transport Department is already providing services like BRT, the People’s Bus Service, and the Pink Bus, and with the addition of the Pink Scooty scheme, this system will be further strengthened.

Speaking at the ceremony, Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said the project was not just about distributing Pink Scooties but the first step toward women’s independence.

He announced that following this, a Pink Taxi service will also be launched soon. He said these projects were the dreams of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and President Asif Ali Zardari, which are now becoming a reality. He added that wherever a Pink Scooty is seen, it will send the message that a courageous woman is riding it.

Sukhdev Asardas Himnani, Buland Khan Junejo, Arslan Islam Sheikh, Mansoor Shahani, Nadir Nabil Gabol, Tahsin Abidi, Aqraba Fatima, businessmen Asif Chaya, Javed Balwani, and Zubair Motiwala, along with media house owners and celebrities including actors Humayun Saeed, Faisal Qureshi, Zalay Sarhadi, Mansha Pasha, Ushna Shah, Dr. Shaista Wahidi, Nadia Hussain, Huma Amir Shah, Abdullah Sultan, director Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy and others.

At the event, 200 working women and students were given free Pink Scooties.
