Transgender Doctor Sara Gill Fights for PMDC License Amid Institutional Deadlock

Pakistan’s first transgender doctor, Dr. Sara Gill, has filed a petition against the non-issuance of her PMDC registration and license. The court has granted time to the counsel of Jinnah Medical College to submit comments.
The focal person from PMDC has submitted a reply, stating that Sara Gill was enrolled with PMDC. However, the petitioner’s counsel argued that the issue is not about her enrollment as a student, but the refusal to register her graduation degree. The petitioner is being shuffled between Jinnah Medical College, Sohail University, and Karachi University. Dr. Sara Gill completed her MBBS from Jinnah Medical and Dental College in 2021. JMDC has since been converted into Sohail University.
