KARACHI Provincial Minister
for Energy, Planning & Development Syed Nasir Hussain has said that cutting
off electricity to other houses due to a few non-paying consumers is an
injustice of the consumers who collect electricity bills with restriction and
in this regards government will soon take action. He expressed these views in
his address at a function held at a local hotel today.
Minister Energy said that
the government is concerned about the growing complaints of consumers such as
over-billing, unannounced load-shedding, unnecessary power cuts by electricity
distribution companies in the province.
As per the vision of
Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto, the Sindh Energy Department is preparing a
strategy to address the complaints of the consumers and take action in this
regard soon.
Nasir Shah said that
alternative energy is the most important need of the hour while the sources of
alternative energy in Sindh province are unlimited. Energy Department is
engaged in practical steps to utilize these natural alternative energy sources.
Chairman Bilawal Bhutto's
vision is to light up every house in the province and provide them with
electricity through solarization. Under this vision, the Energy Department is
providing solar systems to five lakh families in the most backward areas of
Sindh province.
Apart from this, with the
support of the World Bank, the work of providing electricity to two lakh
households through solarization is going on and according to the Chairman PPP
manifesto, the P&D Dept. is taking rapid steps regards the construction of
2 million houses.
Minister said that there
are ample opportunities for domestic and foreign investment in alternative
energy projects and Sindh province is very fertile in this regard. He added
that measures are also in progress regarding four big solar parks. He said that
according to Chairman Bilawal Bhutto's vision of a developed province of Sindh,
many steps have been taken regarding highways, overhead bridges, underpasses,
signal-free, Corridors, water and sewage systems, while the development of the
province and the people's Concrete measures are also being taken for
prosperity. Chairman Bilawal Bhutto has given strict instructions to address
the water shortage in Karachi and the problems and sufferings of the people in
this regard.
In collaboration with the
federal government, they are also working on the K-IV project to alleviate the
water shortage. Minister said that Chairman Bilawal Bhutto has taken notice to
address the complaints of electricity consumers in various contexts, while the
Chief Minister of Sindh has also given special instructions in this regard.
Nasir Shah said that the country will fully support the initiatives and proposals of the Malik Group of Companies regarding solar energy. President Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association Malik Khuda Baksh said that according to the vision of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto, he will fully cooperate with the Energy Department and the Sindh government to light up every house in Sindh province. Sindh government is busy taking practical measures for the welfare of the people such as new roads, highway network, flyovers, underpasses, etc.
