The entire Sindh is protesting against the extraction of six new canals from the Indus River.

The Secretary General of Pakistan Muslim League Functional Sindh and the Secretary of Information for GDA, Sardar Abdul Rahim, has stated that the entire Sindh is protesting against the extraction of six new canals from the Indus River. The way protests were held against these canals during the Eid-ul-Fitr prayer gatherings has set a new precedent. The Zardari League is announcing protests on this issue to salvage its declining reputation. If they are truly sincere towards Sindh, then President Asif Ali Zardari should announce the rejection of these canals and declare the separation of the Pakistan People's Party from the federal government.
He was speaking at Functional League House in Karachi while meeting with Functional League leaders and workers on Eid. Sardar Abdul Rahim further stated that just as the people of Sindh rejected the first phase of the People's Party's protest, they will also reject the second phase. The people of Sindh are well aware that the Pakistan People's Party and President Asif Ali Zardari are equally responsible for the extraction of six new canals from the Indus River. The Sindh government, under the Pakistan People's Party, has already illegally allocated millions of acres of land to investors under the so-called Green Initiative Program.
On one hand, the People's Party is holding key positions in the federal government and constitutional offices, while on the other, it has a strong grip on the Sindh government. However, two swords cannot be kept in one sheath. If the People's Party truly wants to protest, they should do so against President Asif Ali Zardari himself, as he is the one advising the authorities to expedite the completion of these six new canals.
