Meghwar Community of Sukkur Division Stands with Sindh – Fully Supports Baberlo Sit-in for River and Land Rights

Sukkur,

The Meghwar community of Sukkur Division stands united with the people of Sindh. We strongly oppose the unfair grabbing of our rivers and lands. We fully support the peaceful sit-in protest at Kandhi Baberlo led by brave lawyers. Our Panchayats (community councils) demand that both the federal and Sindh governments stop all projects that harm the people.

Today, all major Meghwar leaders from Sukkur Division held a joint meeting. The leaders included Dr. Dadan Arshi (Daharki), Ramchand (Pano Aqil), Babu Hardas (Sukkur), Daryano Mal (Noor Shah Bhit), Meval Das Panhwar (Gambat), and Hiranand (Khairpur). They made this clear message:

“We Meghwars are people of water and land. We have been farming in Sindh since the times of Mohenjo-Daro. This land and river are part of our life and our soul. No matter how many times we have been attacked in history, we are still alive and standing. We will live and struggle alongside our Sindhi brothers and sisters.”

The leaders added:

“We cannot stay silent while the Sindhu River and our farming lands are being destroyed. We are deeply hurt and in protest. Please hear our pain and raise our voice.”

The community praised the brave lawyers Aamir Warraich and Hasan Abbas. They said:

“These lawyers are like the spirit of Rasool Bux Palijo. They love Sindh and the River Indus, just like he did. For us Meghwars, the Indus River and water are life itself. Without water, our children will suffer, and our future will die.”

“If the river flows, we will work and live with dignity. But if the river stops, poor farmers like us will suffer first.”

That’s why we request both the federal and Sindh governments to stand up for Sindh’s water rights. Let no child in Sindh go hungry.

We, the Meghwar community, fully support the Baberlo sit-in protest. We are ready to sit with our children until our last breath if needed. Sindh and the Sindhu River are sacred to us—and we will never leave this cause.
