Sir Syed University Addresses May 3 Incident, Enhances Security Measures

KARACHI, Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology convened an important meeting, chaired by Chancellor Muhammad Akbar Ali Khan, to discuss recent developments following the incidents of May 3. During the session, Registrar Cdre. (R) Syed Sarfraz Ali provided an overview of the situation, addressing concerns and clarifying concealed facts.

The Registrar noted that certain faculty members are misrepresenting themselves as spokespeople for the entire university faculty, distorting information for personal agendas. He emphasized that these claims do not reflect the collective faculty's stance.

To ensure the smooth conduct of examinations and academic activities, the university administration has engaged a private security company, reinforcing security measures across campus. The initiative aims to safeguard university premises and uphold the dignity and respect of faculty members while preventing any recurrence of recent unrest.

Faculty members expressed appreciation for their inclusion in the decision-making process and condemned the unlawful events of May 3. They pledged their full cooperation in maintaining the integrity of the institution and ensuring an uninterrupted academic schedule. The meeting concluded with faculty members reiterating their confidence in the administration's efforts to strengthen security and promote stability.
