A Hindu couple from Sukkur, Sindh—Notan Das Sanjay and Sapna Das—dreamed of a fresh start in India, but fate led them to a tragic end. In November 2024, the family, along with their two young children, migrated to India and settled in a rented flat in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, while searching for employment. However, on Monday morning, a horrifying incident shattered their dreams, hopes, and existence.

According to the initial police investigation, between 9:00 AM and 10:30 AM, Sanjay allegedly attacked his wife, Sapna, with a knife during a domestic dispute, fatally stabbing her in the neck, back, and shoulder. Later, he inflicted wounds on his own neck with the same knife, leading to his suicide. When their younger son returned from school and knocked on the door but received no response, he alerted the neighbors, who then called Sapna’s sister. She informed the police, and upon entering the flat, officers found the couple lying dead in a pool of blood.

The couple had been struggling with financial difficulties and domestic pressures. Sapna’s sister, Sangeeta, an Indian citizen, had been supporting them financially and had arranged the rental flat for them. The most heartbreaking aspect of the tragedy was that their two children were at school during the entire incident. Two innocent souls who had left their parents in good health that morning returned home in the evening to a scene of devastation.

Politician Khial Das Kohistani, affiliated with the Pakistan Muslim League-N, confirmed that the deceased couple was from Sukkur and had been trying to return to Pakistan due to legal issues in India. However, fate did not grant them the chance to return.
