Sindh to Launch Helpline for Public and Private School Teachers

The 18th meeting of the Board of Governance of the Sindh Teachers Education Development Authority (STEDA) was held in Karachi under the chairmanship of Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah. The meeting approved several key decisions, including the issuance of the first teachers’ licenses, strengthening ties with education faculties in universities, and establishing a Teachers Help Line, along with other agenda items.
The meeting was attended by School Education Secretary Zahid Ali Abbasi, STEDA Executive Director Rasool Bux Shah, members of the Sindh Assembly Muhammad Yousuf Baloch, Tanzila Qambrani, and Seema Khurram, as well as Saleemuddin Shaikh, Dr. Sajid Ali, Inam Shaikh, other board members, and relevant officers. As the Chairman of the STEDA Board, Provincial Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah presided over the meeting, where discussions were held on teacher recruitments, professional training for teachers, issuance of teachers’ licenses, and initiatives by STEDA.
During the meeting, it was agreed to continue making serious and consistent efforts to strengthen the role of all sectors involved in teachers’ education in Sindh. It was noted that the courses taught in the education faculties or departments of universities need to be aligned with market needs and modern teaching methods. In this regard, STEDA was approved to present proposals in collaboration with education experts and other stakeholders.
It was also decided in the meeting to launch a Teachers Help Line to address and resolve teachers’ complaints and issues related to their work. Provincial Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah stated that teachers face many challenges in their work, which are difficult to monitor and resolve directly. He added that with the help of the Teachers Help Line, teachers, especially female teachers, would find it easier to resolve their legitimate issues.
The Education Minister said: “We want to have an effective platform available for teachers’ issues and their resolution, where teachers can feel secure and easily express their concerns.”
Approving the immediate completion of necessary measures in this regard, it was directed that phone call and online platforms be arranged for the Sindh Teachers Help Line, through which teachers from both public and private schools will be able to establish contact.
The meeting also decided that all teachers’ training institutes established for teacher education and training in Sindh will be supervised by STEDA. In this regard, training institutes will present all their matters to the board, and STEDA will make every effort to resolve issues and take necessary actions to improve the functioning of these institutes further.
The board meeting was informed that all necessary steps for the issuance of the first teachers’ licenses have been completed. It was further informed that the ceremony for the issuance of the first teachers’ licenses in Sindh will be held on July 29 at the Chief Minister’s House.
