SBCA Cracks Down on Illegal Constructions Across Karachi; Malir Projects Sealed, 15 Structures Demolished in Citywide Operation

Karachi  SBCA Launches Decisive Crackdown Against Illegal Construction; Director General Vows Impartial Action On the directives of the Director General  Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA), Muzamil Hussain Halepoto, a decisive crackdown against illegal constructions is underway, and action will continue without discrimination—a clear stance taken by the Director General.

According to the SBCA Spokesperson, the crackdown against illegal construction resulted in the sealing of two illegal housing projects in Malir: Al-Zahra Residency and The Great Farm House. Furthermore, 15 illegal constructions were demolished across Districts South and East, including Liaquatabad, Nazimabad, and Federal B Area. These demolitions targeted illegal additions like extra floors, portions, and shops, with RCC roofs and walls being torn down.

Details of Demolition and Sealing Operations Following the Director General SBCA's instructions, the Demolition Squad conducted the following actions:

* District Malir: The illegal project Al-Zahra Residency in Shah Murad Society was sealed, while constructions at The Great Farm House were demolished, and its premises sealed.

* District Central:

* In Liaquatabad, the RCC roof and walls of the seventh floor on Plot No. 5/872, and the rolling shutters and partition walls of illegal shops on Plot No. 9/183, were demolished.

* In Nazimabad, ground-to-second-floor portions on Plot No. 9/1, Sub Block 5-C, partition walls of ground-to-first-floor portions on Plot No. 17/13, Sub Block 5-E, and constructions on the mandatory open space on Plot No. 2/6, Sub Block 1-E, were torn down.

* Constructions including the third floor on Plot No. 201 in Usmania CHS Gulbahar, and the RCC roof, columns, and partition walls of the second floor on Plot No. B-16 in Rizvia CHS, were demolished.

* In North Karachi, the RCC roof and partition walls of the second floor on Plot No. C-70/1, Sector 11-B, were also demolished.

* Federal B Area (District Central): Extensive action was taken, demolishing the second-floor RCC roof on Plot No. R-760, Block 16; the mezzanine floor RCC roof and partition walls on Plot No. R-429, Block 16; ground-to-second-floor constructions on Plot Nos. R-225 and R-226, Block 2; and the RCC roof and walls constructed in the mandatory open space from the ground to the first floor on Plot No. R-679, Block 15. The rolling shutters of illegal shops on Plot No. 1507, Block 15, were also demolished. However, further action was postponed due to resistance and unrest by a large crowd, posing a threat to law and order.

* District South: The demolition squad demolished the first-floor partition walls and sealed the second floor on Plot No. 102, GK-01, Ghulam Hussain Qasim Quarter, Saddar. In Lyari, the illegal construction at Baloch Car Parking located at Bizanjo Chowk, UC 06, was demolished and the area sealed.

* District East: The third-floor columns and partition walls on Plot No. 63/1-B, Block 06, PECHS, and the third-floor precast constructions on Plot No. 1158, BIB CHS, were demolished.

The above-mentioned demolition activities were carried out under the leadership of Director Demolition, Rehan Khan, and supervised by the Deputy and Assistant Directors and Demolition Officers. Personnel from the SBCA Police Force and local police were present to maintain law and order throughout the operations.
