In the Special Duty Magistrate West/City Court, a case was heard regarding the recovery of explosive materials from suspects affiliated with a banned separatist organization. CTD officials presented the suspects in court under tight security.
The suspects were brought to court in an armored vehicle with their faces covered. The court ordered their release. It stated that both suspects are being discharged under Section 63 of the Criminal Procedure Code. The court also rejected the police’s request for a one-day transit remand.
According to the CTD, the suspects were arrested from Machhar Colony with the assistance of a sensitive agency. Two hand grenades and explosive materials were recovered from them. The suspects were allegedly recruiting youth into the banned organization and encouraging terrorist activities.
The President of the Karachi Bar Association, along with other senior lawyers, appeared in court with the defense counsel. The defense filed a request to discharge the suspects from the case, arguing that one of the accused was arrested from a hospital and that the CTD registered the case with malicious intent. Evidence was presented showing that one suspect was illegally detained from the hospital.
The court accepted the defense’s request and discharged both suspects from the case under Section 63 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
