BILAWAL BHUTTO ZARDARI INAUGURATES NEW BLOCKS OF SIUT SHAHRAH-E-FAISAL

Karachi Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Monday inaugurated the newly established blocks of the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) Trust Hospital’s Shahrah-e-Faisal branch in Karachi. This historic step aims to ensure the provision of free and state-of-the-art medical services — especially for kidney diseases and other complex conditions — to people across the country. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Provincial Health Minister Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, the driving force behind SIUT Dr. Adeeb Rizvi, renowned economist Shabbar Zaidi, and a large number of administrative and medical staff, dignitaries, and civil society members.
Interestingly, both new units have been established by completely transforming the building of a former commercial hotel into a modern and fully functional hospital. The project demonstrates how available resources can be effectively utilized for public welfare. According to the hospital administration, all treatment facilities in these units will be provided completely free of cost, in line with SIUT’s philosophy. Addressing the ceremony, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari emphasized that the top priority of the Pakistan Peoples Party and the Sindh government is to make free healthcare facilities accessible to every citizen. He described SIUT’s services as a source of national pride and praised Dr. Adeeb Rizvi and his team for their selfless work. He expressed hope that this new project would become a major milestone in promoting modern, high-quality, and free medical treatment not only for Karachi but for the entire country, ultimately reducing the suffering of thousands of patients with kidney diseases.
Dr. Adeeb Rizvi, expressing his delight at the expansion, stated that with the launch of these new facilities, hundreds of patients will now receive timely and free dialysis and advanced kidney treatment every day. SIUT is already providing free medical care to over one million patients annually, and the establishment of these new blocks will further broaden the scope of its healthcare services. This inauguration is yet another example of the Sindh government’s commitment to revolutionizing the healthcare sector through public-private partnership (PPP) and ensuring world-class treatment for every citizen without any financial burden.
