Karachi: Woman Suffers Acid Attack in Korangi; CM Sindh Murad Ali Shah Takes Strict Notice, Demands Police Report

KARACHI: In a shocking incident of violence, a woman named Kiran Khan was targeted in a brutal acid attack by her neighbor in the Korangi Crossing area of Karachi. Following media reports of the incident, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah took strict notice and sought an immediate report from the Additional IG Karachi.
Speaking from the hospital's burn ward where she is currently undergoing treatment, the victim, Kiran Khan, stated that her neighbor, identified as Ali, had been harassing her for a long period. According to her statement, a persistent dispute existed over water leakage into her home caused by the suspect's water tank. Despite multiple complaints, the issue remained unresolved.
The victim further revealed that she had previously registered an FIR against Ali due to constant harassment. On June 21, as she stepped out of her house, the suspect threw acid on her and managed to flee the scene. Khan alleged that the suspect’s wife was also complicit in the heinous crime. She further claimed that the local police have been reluctant to register the case.
CM Sindh’s Intervention: Reacting strongly to the incident, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah ordered the immediate arrest of the culprit. "Providing justice to the aggrieved woman is the primary responsibility of law enforcement agencies," the Chief Minister emphasized.
He directed the health and security authorities to ensure the best possible medical treatment and full protection for the victim. CM Shah firmly stated that elements involved in such barbaric acts of acid violence do not deserve any leniency and will be dealt with strictly according to the law.
