Karachi Press Club and Unilever Pakistan have agreed to work together to improve climate reporting and enhance the capacity of journalists in the country.

Karachi Press Club and Unilever Pakistan organized an interactive session regarding the improvement of climate reporting in the country and the challenges faced in this regard. Secretary of Karachi Press Club Shoaib Ahmad, Secretary of Karachi Union of Journalists Nimat Khan, Climate Expert Aafia Salam, Senior Reporter and Member Governing Body Shams Careo, Rana Javed were present in the session.

And journalists reporting on meteorology attended.

The purpose of this session was to highlight the nuances of climate change reporting and the importance of public awareness and policy making.


The session began with a review of Unilever's sustainable initiatives for environmental protection, and discussed the need to differentiate between climate change and its impacts as well as environmental degradation.

Media Development Specialist and Climate Expert Aafia Salam emphasized the need for the private and public sectors to find joint solutions regarding environmental protection, providing journalists reporting on climate change with accurate and authentic field information and resources.

Emphasized the need to promote effective climate change journalism.

Secretary of Karachi Press Club Shoaib Ahmed emphasized on the need to facilitate the discussion on climate change and to move forward for viable solutions.

He offered to use the platform of Karachi Press Club in this regard and agreed on the need to work together in this regard. Fatima Arshad, Head of Sustainability, Unilever Pakistan said, "We need a disaster management strategy to deal with the challenges of climate change in the future, so that we can prepare ourselves to face these changes.

" Climate change affects every aspect of life, from food security to natural ecosystems. Karachi Press Club and Unilever Pakistan will work together in workshops, seminars, field work and other fields to improve reporting on climate change.
