Awami Tehreek Declares War: 27th Amendment is 'Greater Assault Than Mughals,' Warns Traitors of Sindh

Pakistan’s establishment, through fake and rigged elections, has brought certain parties into power to get the 27th Constitutional Amendment passed — an amendment that aims to destroy the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, who believed in a progressive, secular, democratic state based on the supremacy of law and the Constitution.

This amendment is intended to divide the country of 250 million people into fragments, weaken it, and hand it over to American imperialism.

The 27th Constitutional Amendment is an attack on the federation of Pakistan and a strike on Sindh greater than the historical invasions of Arghoons, Tarkhans, and Mughals.

The Pakistan Muslim League (N) and the Pakistan Peoples Party, under the guise of democracy, have become black marks on the political fabric of the country — acting as facilitators of those who have repeatedly usurped the rights of the people and democracy.

Through this amendment, the establishment plans to hand over Karachi and Hyderabad to its nurtured terrorist organization, MQM, while dividing the remaining districts under the name of “administrative units” to gift them to its loyal feudals, chieftains, and landlords — in order to dismantle Sindh’s historic unity and existence.

Muslim League (N) and PPP, blinded by greed for power, have allied with the establishment to erase the existence, languages, and cultures of Pakistan’s historic national units and nations.

Respected journalist friends!

The purpose of bringing the 27th Amendment is to abolish the 18th Constitutional Amendment, snatch away provincial powers and hand them to the federation, transfer all of Sindh’s mineral resources — including oil, gas, gold, silver, copper, granite, and coal — to the federal government, and eliminate the powers of higher courts.

It also aims to establish new “constitutional courts” to curtail legal, constitutional, human, and democratic rights; to impose a hybrid martial law under constitutional cover; and to further strip parliaments and assemblies — already reduced to rubber stamps — of their remaining constitutional authority.

The creation of new provinces under the pretext of administrative units is part of a broader anti-Pakistan conspiracy designed to dismantle the country’s unity and existence.

Respected journalist friends!

The 27th Constitutional Amendment is a poisonous pill of dictatorship and martial law wrapped in deceptive language.

It is harmful and disastrous for the smaller nations of Pakistan and the remaining federation.

It is a greater assault than the “One Unit” scheme, intended to erase Sindh’s historic identity and autonomy.

Dear journalist friends!

Against this anti-Sindh and anti-people amendment, all patriotic, progressive, and democratic forces across Pakistan must launch a peaceful democratic struggle.

In this regard, Sindhyani Tehreek and Awami Tehreek will jointly organize a grand peaceful protest march on 16 November — from City Gate to Hyderabad Press Club.

Thousands of Sindhyani women, lawyers, writers, poets, children, elders, students, peasants, and growers will participate in this historic event.

On behalf of Awami Tehreek, I appeal to all conscientious members of the ruling and opposition parties, including MNAs, senators, and MPAs, not to vote in favor of the 27th Constitutional Amendment.

Anyone who votes for or supports this amendment will be considered an enemy of Sindh, a betrayer of the voters, and a traitor to the motherland.

History and the people of Sindh will never forgive such traitors.
