Prem Sagar Sanstha Delegation Meets Sindh Education Minister Over Sanatan Dharam Textbooks
KARACHI: A delegation of Prem Sagar Sanstha Karachi met Sindh Education and Literacy Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah to discuss the publication, distribution and implementation of Sanatan Dharam curriculum textbooks for Hindu students studying in Grades 3, 4 and 5 at government schools across Sindh.
The delegation comprised Mr. Vijay B. Murjani, Ms. Jyoti Shree Maheshwari, Mr. Vinod Kumar Issardasani and Mr. Santosh Bhatia.
During the meeting, the delegation appreciated the Government of Sindh for introducing government-approved, curriculum-based religious textbooks for Hindu students, describing the initiative as a significant step towards ensuring inclusive and equitable education for religious minorities.
The representatives said the initiative was particularly significant as it marked a major development in the provision of formal religious education to Hindu students in government schools. They linked the initiative with the constitutional guarantees provided under Articles 22, 25 and 36 of the Constitution of Pakistan, relating to religious freedom, equality before the law and the protection of minority rights.
The delegation informed the minister that the textbooks had already been distributed among a large number of students and had received a positive response from students, parents, teachers and members of the Hindu community.
The meeting also discussed the effective implementation of the Sanatan Dharam curriculum in educational institutions across Sindh, as well as continued cooperation between relevant stakeholders to improve the quality and accessibility of religious education for minority students.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the delegation presented a bouquet and copies of the Sanatan Dharam textbooks to Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah.
The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment to promoting inclusive education, interfaith harmony and equal educational opportunities for students from all religious communities across Sindh.
