In a significant development at COP 28,
Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar and Maldives President Dr. Mohamed
Muizzu joined forces to bolster their nations' collaboration in combating
climate change.
The leaders convened on the sidelines of the
conference, emphasizing the imperative need for tangible outcomes in climate
action and justice.
Amidst the discussions, Advancing Expertise:
Planting the Seeds of Climate Resistance,
both leaders explored avenues for knowledge exchange in the cultivation of
mangroves and other climate-resistant flora.
Recognizing the shared responsibility, they underscored
the importance of concrete actions to mitigate the impact of climate change.
Expressing unwavering support, Prime Minister Kakar assured President Muizzu of
Pakistan's commitment to aiding the Maldivian government and its people.
Kakar extended warm congratulations on
Muizzu's assumption of the presidency and articulated a vision for promoting
peace and development in South Asia through enhanced regional cooperation.
Strengthening Bilateral Ties:
A Vision for Prosperity and Goodwill
The leaders pledged to fortify the bilateral relations between Pakistan and
Maldives, leveraging the deep-rooted goodwill between their nations.
Committing to intensified high-level
dialogues, they envisioned mutually beneficial cooperation across economic,
trade, cultural, and tourism sectors.
As part of the Pakistani delegation at COP28, Prime Minister Kakar, accompanied
by Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani, Finance Minister Dr. Shamshad Akhtar,
Federal Minister for Climate Change Ahmed Irfan Aslam, and Energy Minister
Muhammad Ali, is set to participate in the World Climate Action Summit on
December 1 and 2.
