Following Resolutions were collectively adopted by writers, intellectuals, poets, journalists, lawyers, political, and social leaders during a conference organized by Awami Tehreek Hyderabad Press Club titled "Stop handing over Sindh to bandits."
The conference addressed the alarming situation in Sindh, where bandits have been equiped with modern weaponry, leading to a surge in terrorism events, particularly in Sukkur and Larkana divisions.
Bandits kidnap and torture innocent people and openly demanding ransom, In some cases if family cannot manage ransom money they kill the victims and the record videos of the scenes and share videos on social media. Robbers engage in smuggling activities unabatedly, profiting immensely from the lucrative business of kidnapping and drug trafficking, amounting to over 2 billion rupees annually.
Such nefarious activities thrive with the complicity of local authorities, police, and rulers, exacerbating the deteriorating security situation in Sindh,This is mockery of rule of law.
During more than 15 years of PPPP rule in Sindh, peace has become a dream for people of Sindh. . Despite nominal actions such as announced operations against bandits, the reality on the ground remains unchanged, with funds allocated for such endeavors seemingly misappropriated.
The ineffectiveness of these measures is highlighted by the continued prevalence of banditry and the acquisition of sophisticated weaponry beyond the capabilities of law enforcement agencies.
Questions regarding the source of modern weaponry for the bandits, their training, and the lack of decisive action against them remain unanswered.
Calls are made for the formation of a high judicial commission comprising Supreme Court judges to investigate and prosecute those involved in arming and supporting bandits.
Additionally, the conference demands the immediate release of all hostages, including Priya Kumari, and the removal of incompetent and corrupt officials from the police force. Reforms are urged, including the provision of modern equipment and facilities for effective operations against bandits, as well as improved conditions and compensation for police personnel.
Transparency regarding the allocation and utilization of funds earmarked for operations in Sindh over the past 15 years is also demanded.
details of those responsible for the killings, including those responsible of brutal murders of Ustad allah rakhio Nandwani, Ajmal Sawand and journalist Jan Mohammad Mehr and other victims should be disclosed to the nation.
Calls have been made for the establishment of higher educational institutions in memory of Ajmal Sawand and Ustad allah rakhio Nandwani both of whom fell victim to the brutal actions of robbers.
