Election riots on twelve seats of the Senate
from Sindh. People's Party won ten seats.
Apart from one MQM candidate, independent
candidate Faisal Vawda also won.
Polling started for the Senate election in the
Sindh Assembly, then the first vote was cast by Faryal Talpur.
The Sindh Assembly consists of one hundred and
sixty eight members. One hundred and sixty four of them are eligible to vote.
While one hundred and four members exercised
their right to vote. The last vote was cast by Mukesh Kumar Chawla. Counting of
votes started after polling ended at 4 pm.
Later, the returning officer Sharifullah
announced the results. People's Party's Ashraf Ali Jatoi, Dost Ali Jaisar,
Kazim Ali Shah, Masroorahsan and Nadeem Bhutto of the People's Party won the
general seats of the Senate from Sindh.
MQM's Amir Chishti and independent candidate
Faisal Vavda also won.
People's Party candidates Sarmad Ali and
Zameer Ghamro won the two technocrat seats.
People's Party's Rubina Qaim Khani and Qaratul
Ain Marri won the women's seats.
The victory of Panju Bhel, the candidate of
PPP, was announced on the minority seat.
Three members of the Grand Democratic Alliance
and Jamaat-e-Islami, Hafiz Naeem, did not take the oath.
While nine independent candidates supported by
Tehreek-e-Insaf had announced a boycott.
