The administration of Balochistan Union of
Journalists strongly condemned the locking of Quetta Press Club
The
move is an attack on freedom of press and a clear violation of Article 19 of
the Constitution.
The Balochistan Union of Journalists has strongly
condemned the locking of the Quetta Press Club by the administration and the
police, terming this action as an attack on the freedom of the press and a
clear violation of Article 19 of the Constitution.
The Balochistan Union of Journalists has said in an
ongoing statement that a high-level investigation should be conducted into the
matter, and the future course of action will be announced within 24 hours.
The closure of the press club is an attack on the
freedom and rights of journalists, which is unacceptable.
This step by the administration is a conspiracy to
silence journalists and we will strongly protest against it.
The
union stressed that despite the threats and challenges faced by journalists,
they will continue to carry out their duties and cannot be intimidated by such
measures.
Article 19 of the
Constitution of Pakistan gives freedom of expression to every citizen and the
locking of the Press Club is a clear violation of it.
The Balochistan Union of
Journalists has demanded that a high-level investigation be conducted in this
matter so that the journalists can perform their duties without fear or danger.
The future action plan will be announced within 24 hours.
