Nasir Shah directed to take strict action against the officials of the Energy Department, government employees and distribution company officials involved in electricity theft.
KARACHI (): Sindh Provincial Energy Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah met Aqeel Ahmed Junejo, the head of the task force set up under his direction, at the office of the Energy Department today directed to prevent the theft of government electricity and to end the issuance of bogus bills while the task force told that in SEPCO areas where the Sindh government pays the electricity bills, large-scale bogus billing and theft of electricity have been revealed by the security side, due to which the Sindh government suffering a loss per month and government officials, HESCO officials and officials of the energy department are also involved. Expressing his anger, Minister directed the Secretary Energy Mossadegh Ahmed Khan to take strict departmental action against the officials of the Energy Department involved in power theft and suspend them immediately. He added that letters should be written to the heads of HESCO and all the relevant organizations that consume government electricity and strict action should be taken against the involved persons after informing them of the situation. Energy Minister said that all the concerned government institutions should take steps to prevent electricity theft in their buildings and residential colonies and electricity meters should be installed. Illegal workers should be eliminated and they should pay the future electricity bills themselves. Nasir Shah said that in the future bogus bills will not be paid by the government nor will stolen electricity bills be paid. On this occasion, the Energy Minister appreciated the performance of the task force and its head, Aqeel Ahmed Junejo, and said that the task force should continue its operations against the people involved in causing losses of millions of rupees per month to the Sindh government, the government should support them in every possible way.
