SESSI Governing Body Announces Financial Aid for Workers, Approves FY 2019-20 Audit

Welfare of Workers Remains Top Priority: Shahid Thaheem


Karachi, The 170th meeting of the SESSI Governing Body was chaired by Sindh Minister for Labour and Human Resources Shahid Abdul Salam Thaheem. Several critical decisions were made to enhance the welfare of workers, officials, and the medical sector. The meeting was attended by Commissioner SESSI Mian Dad Rahujo, Deputy Secretary Labour, Medical Advisor Dr. Kamran Awan, and other key stakeholders.


Key highlights of the meeting included the approval of minutes from previous sessions, an increase in goodwill-based financial aid for workers, and amendments to the 2023 Service Regulations in the medical sector. Additionally, significant reforms were introduced, including revised working hours for medical circles and dispensaries, and a special package for consultants and specialists.


Payments of outstanding dues to pharmaceutical companies and funds for the treatment of cancer patients were also approved. Renovation of the Kulsoom Bai Valika Social Security Hospital, procurement of medical equipment for hospitals, and allocation of a dedicated budget for cancer treatment were among the landmark decisions.


The meeting further approved appointments of legal advisors, financial consultants, and an IT director. The charter of demands for the fiscal years 2024-25 and 2025-26 was also ratified, along with the external audit of FY 2019-20.


Shahid Thaheem emphasized his commitment to prioritizing the welfare of workers, officials, and the medical sector. “We will take every possible step to resolve issues promptly and effectively. The use of modern equipment in healthcare is a vital step toward improvement. Ensuring the provision of state-of-the-art healthcare facilities for the working class remains our foremost priority,” he stated.
