Transporters and Officials Involved in Black Marketing, Double Fare Charges During Eid Must Be Brought to Justice: Vasand Thari central president Awami Tehreek
Awami Tehreek Condemns PPP’s Corporate Farming Push: Exposes 54,000-Acre Land Grab, Indus River ‘Sell-Off’ as ‘Betrayal Worse Than Chanesar’s Treachery
Pakistan Peoples Party’s Drama of Going to CCI Must End: Awami Tehreek
Hyderabad – In a joint press statement, Awami Tehreek’s leadership—including Central President Advocate Vasand Thari, General Secretary Advocate Sajid Hussain Mahesar, Vice President Sattar Rind, Noor Nabi Palijo, Pirha Soomro, and others—strongly condemned the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) for prioritizing corporate interests over Sindh’s sovereignty.
The leaders criticized President Asif Ali Zardari for signing amendments to the IRSA Ordinance, which facilitate the sale of Indus River water to corporate farming entities.
Awami Tehreek revealed that instead of rejecting the caretaker government’s decision to allocate 52,713 acres of Sindh’s land to the Green Pakistan Initiative, the PPP-led Sindh government further allotted 54,000 acres to the same company. “This is a blatant betrayal of Sindh, akin to Chanesar’s historic deceit against his own brother Dodo,” they further added that the PPP is committing greater anti-Sindh acts than Chanesar, arguing that the people of Sindh would never forgive the PPP for selling the Indus River and Sindh’s lands under the guise of corporate farming projects.
The leaders stated that PPP’s actions are more dangerous for Sindh than past dictators like Zia, Ayub, and Musharraf, as the PPP is commodifying Sindh’s resources, lands and Indus River to make Bilawal Zardari as a premier.
They further added that the PPP’s announcement of taking the canal issue to the Council of Common Interests (CCI) is nothing but a deceptive ploy. They said the PPP is misleading the public with a false drama, stating that the CCI has a Punjabi majority, where decisions against Sindh are justified under the pretext of so_called majority rule. Currently, four out of eight CCI members are from Punjab, a province that has historically dominated the council’s decision-making structure.
The statement also recalled that PPP had previously betrayed Sindh by accepting the flawed digital census results in the CCI. Now, the PPP is repeating the same deception. Decisions based on majority rule have consistently gone against Sindh’s interests, and the ruling PPP is actively supporting anti-Sindh projects. While President Asif Ali Zardari has already approved the strategic canal project, the PPP is misleading the public by pretending to oppose it.
Transporters and Officials Involved in Black Marketing, Double Fare Charges During Eid Must Be Brought to Justice
With Eid approaching, Awami Tehreek slammed the PPP for enabling rampant profiteering, citing exorbitant increases in transport fares, rations, and vegetable prices. The leaders said that transporters are charging double the official rates in collusion with corrupt officials from the Transport Department, Motorway, and National Highway Authorities, who accept bribes to allow this extortion.
The PPP has institutionalized bribery and black marketing in Sindh, the statement declared, highlighting that even federal institutions like the Motorway and National Highway authorities are complicit. Awami Tehreek demanded urgent legal action against profiteers, transporters, and corrupt officials involved in black-market activities.
