Separately, the party strongly condemned the brutal murder of journalist A.D. Shar in Thari Mirwah and demanded the immediate arrest and prosecution of all those involved in this heinous crime.

In a joint statement, Awami Tehreek’s central president, Advocate Vasand Thari, along with party leaders Sattar Rind, Noor Nabi Palejo, Adv Ismaeel Khaskheli and Sagar Parhriyar, expressed serious concern over what they termed as a coordinated campaign by anti-Sindh elements against the province’s democratic and peaceful resistance on canals and corporate farming initiatives.
The leaders alleged that in response to the people’s rightful and constitutional struggle, the establishment has once again fielded MQM’s Governor Kamran Tessori and other elements to instigate unrest. “The threatening rhetoric by Governor Tessori is unbecoming of a constitutional office bearer and more akin to that of a street thug,” the statement read. They further claimed that Tessori’s leadership has reignited a wave of violence in Karachi, with public property, including tankers and dumpers, being torched in recent incidents.
The Awami Tehreek leaders also criticized the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), accusing it of pursuing a Punjab-centric agenda at the expense of smaller provinces. “The PML-N’s policies and actions continue to undermine provincial autonomy and fuel inequality,” they said, citing past instances such as the push for the Kalabagh Dam and the alleged diversion of Sindh’s water resources to green Punjab’s arid regions.
They added that recent remarks by senior PML-N leaders, including Rana Sanaullah, Khawaja Asif, Musaddiq Malik, Atta Tarar, Uzma Bukhari, and Maryam Aurangzeb, in support of canal development reflect a continued disregard for Sindh’s environmental and economic concerns.
Awami Tehreek accused the Punjab government and PML-N leadership of attempting to malign Sindh’s democratic movement by branding it as anti-state. “These tactics will not succeed. The people of Sindh will continue their struggle through peaceful, democratic means and will reject the political maneuvers of both the PML-N and PPP,” the statement added.
The leaders also pointed to the Prime Minister’s recent response to the Sindh Chief Minister as evidence of federal bias and misappropriation of Sindh’s financial resources for Punjab’s development.
