SMIU Stakeholder Associations Stand United Against Malicious Defamation Campaigns

All three representative bodies of SMIU—Sindh Madressatul Islam University Teachers' Association (SMUTA), *Sindh Madressatul Islam University Officers' Association (SMIUOA), and Sindh Madressatul Islam University Employees Welfare Association (SMIUEWA)*—held a joint meeting to strongly condemn the ongoing defamatory propaganda launched by a handful of individuals from within the university, aiming to tarnish the image of the institution.
The elected cabinet members of all three associations categorically denounced the malicious social media campaigns and blackmailing tactics being employed against university authorities by certain negative elements.
They reaffirmed that no victimization is taking place at SMIU; instead, all administrative matters are being handled in strict accordance with the university's approved Code of Conduct and the Rule of Law.
The representatives emphasized that institutional rules bind every individual at SMIU. It was further stated that those attempting to defame the university are currently facing disciplinary inquiries on serious charges. One individual is reportedly an absconder from another public sector university, while another has been allegedly and reportedly found guilty of workplace harassment against a senior female faculty member. These individuals, notorious within the campus for their bullying behavior, have also been accused of recording and circulating inappropriate videos of female colleagues. Multiple complaints from faculty and staff have been formally submitted to the Vice Chancellor, triggering due disciplinary processes.
As the lawful accountability of their misconduct proceeds through impartial and structured mechanisms, these individuals have now resorted to portraying themselves as victims, misleading the public and media through orchestrated online narratives. The three associations wholeheartedly endorsed and showed their confidence in the inquiry committees' transparency and impartiality, which include internal and external members, as constituted by the Vice Chancellor.
They jointly and unequivocally declared that all defamatory and baseless content circulating on media platforms against the university, its administration, and the Vice Chancellor is false, malicious, and driven by vested interests. Such acts of blackmail and propaganda were firmly condemned.
In conclusion, the united leadership of SMUTA, SMIUOA, and SMIUEWA called upon the university administration, especially the Honorable Vice Chancellor, to continue all ongoing inquiries without interruption or influence.
They emphasized that these proceedings must reach their logical conclusion under the law, uninfluenced by external pressure or orchestrated misinformation campaigns.
