SMIU’s faculty, officers and other employees congratulate Vice Chancellor Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai on conferment of Sitara-e-Imtiaz

Sindh Madressatul Islam University’s deans, chairpersons, faculty, officers and other employees have congratulated Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai, Vice Chancellor of Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) on conferment of “Sitara-e-Imtiaz” by the President of Pakistan on the Independence Day, 14th August. They said that Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai has rendered remarkable services in the field of education in Pakistan. The joint statement said that currently Dr. Sahrai is the senior most vice chancellor specially in Sindh. It is interesting to note that his father late Taj Sahrai, who was also a great historian, academician and writer had too received the presidential award.
They further said that Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai’s contribution specially in the development of Sindh Madressatul Islam University is unmatched. He has given an institutional shape to it after joining SMIU in 2020 as its vice chancellor and introduced research culture over here, produced first PhD in 2025, more about ten PhD students are in final phase of their study, made publication of research journals regular, added AI and other modern computer labs and established I.T Tower and Hashmat Lodi Youth Development Centre. Apart from it, they said Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai increased students’ population from 1800 to 5500, ensured quality education, brought out SMIU from acute financial deficit to surplus, founded “Sindh Madressatul Islam University Fund” with PKR 200 million, made the meetings of statuary bodies regular, resolved basic issues of the employees, and encouraged faculty, officers and other employees to work for SMIU with dedication and honesty.
“The award for distinguished educationist of the country Dr. Mujeeb Sahrai is also an honour for SMIU and all teaching fraternity of the country,” they concluded.
According to the press release of the Government of Pakistan’s Cabinet Division (F.No.1/12025-Awards-1) that the presidential awards shall be conferred in the Investiture Ceremony to be held on Pakistan Day, 23rd March 2026.
