Global Standards and Transparency to Be Ensured in Machinery and Medicine Procurement, Muhammad Ali Malkani

Karachi The Sindh government, with the cooperation of the World Bank, is prioritizing transparency and the use of modern technology in all ongoing development projects aimed at the province’s progress. These views were expressed by Sindh Minister for Livestock and Fisheries Muhammad Ali Malkani during a high-level meeting with the senior management of SGS Pakistan Private Limited at his office on Tuesday.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Livestock and Fisheries Dr. Kazim Hussain Jatoi, Taha Amin (Assistant Manager SGS), Murtaza Arbani, Mahira Yameen, Ahmad Raza, Madhia Gulfam, and other officials.
The delegation of SGS experts briefed the provincial minister on development projects being implemented at the federal and provincial levels and assured him that SGS would continue to provide services in projects being carried out in collaboration with the World Bank as well as other small and large initiatives. They emphasized that SGS would ensure testing and evaluation of all materials in line with international standards to improve project efficiency and transparency.
On the occasion, Minister Muhammad Ali Malkani said that the government aims to ensure transparency and international quality standards in the procurement of machinery and medicines under all development projects of the Livestock and Fisheries Department, including those supported by the World Bank.
He added that modern laboratories are being established, and medicines for animal diseases are being imported from abroad, while some are also being produced locally. “The quality of these medicines must meet international standards so that we can effectively control animal diseases across Sindh,” he stated.
The minister further said that the department intends to sign an agreement with SGS to strengthen inspection, quality control, and quantity verification mechanisms. “SGS will utilize its expertise and resources to help us set clear standards for all required items, enabling us to set an example of transparency in our projects,” he concluded.
