Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad Division Shahmeer Khan Bhutto, Deputy Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad Abdul Samad Nizamani, PPP District President Muhammad Salim Zardari and Sajjada Nashin of the Dargah Faqeer Naveed Hussain Vistro inaugurated the three-day official celebrations of the 754th annual Urs of the renowned Sufi saint, Hazrat Syed Asghar Ali Shah, popularly known as Sakhi Jam Datar, by laying the traditional chadar at the revered shrine. Special prayers were offered for the peace, prosperity and security of the country. On this occasion, the Commissioner and other officials also inaugurated scientific and cultural stalls set up by various departments, as well as medical camps established for the convenience of visitors.
Speaking to the media, Commissioner Shahmeer Khan Bhutto and others highlighted the teachings of love, humanity, tolerance and service to mankind imparted by Sakhi Jam Datar. He said that the shrines of saints are sources of peace, brotherhood and spiritual guidance, and that the dargah of Sakhi Jam Datar has been a center of inspiration and devotion for centuries, where thousands of devotees pay homage daily.
The Commissioner added that instructions have been issued to the district and town administrations to ensure all possible facilities for the devotees during the three-day Urs. He said that comprehensive arrangements have been made by the district administration, police, Auqaf Department, town committees and Health Department, including medical services, security, traffic management, first aid, drinking water, lighting and cleanliness. Medical camps have been set up by the Health Department, while police personnel have been deployed for security.
Later, Commissioner Shahmeer Khan Bhutto, Deputy Commissioner Abdul Samad Nizamani and other officers visited the science exhibition organized by Government Boys Higher Secondary School Jam Sahib on the occasion of the Urs. They appreciated the scientific models prepared by students and encouraged the school administration. The Commissioner also inaugurated the scientific and cultural stalls and medical camps set up by the Health Department, Agriculture Department, Livestock Department and other institutions, reviewed arrangements, and issued further instructions for providing better facilities.
Assistant Commissioner Daur Muhammad Zakir, Information Officer Aijaz Ali Teevino, Mir Muhammad Siyal, Town Officer Muhammad Saleh Zardari, Chairman Town Committee Abdullah Shar, political and social personalities, devotees and a large number of visitors were present. Traditional sports including horse racing, kabaddi and wrestling were also held on the first day of the Urs celebrations.
