In Karachi, a father ambushed and allegedly shot dead his daughter and son-in-law, who had contracted a love marriage, in broad daylight. A passerby was also injured in the firing, while the accused fled the scene along with an accomplice.
In the Bhains Colony area of Karachi, unidentified assailants opened fire on a couple riding a motorcycle, leaving both of them critically injured. A passerby was also wounded in the incident. Police reached the spot immediately and shifted the injured to Jinnah Hospital, where the husband and wife succumbed to their injuries. The injured passerby was identified as 55-year-old Bashir, who is receiving medical treatment.
According to SHO Sukhan Khalid Memon, the deceased were identified as 30-year-old Sudhar, son of Abdul Hameed, and his 27-year-old wife Saima. Initial information revealed that the couple belonged to Thatta and had contracted a court marriage one month ago. The incident is suspected to be an “honor killing,” allegedly carried out by the woman’s father with the help of an accomplice, before fleeing the scene.
A spokesperson for Sindh Police stated that IG Sindh Javed Alam Odho has taken notice of the firing incident in District Malir’s Bhains Colony and sought details from DIG East Zone. Police confirmed that the search for the suspects involved in the murder is underway and further investigation is in progress.
