KARACHI – MQM-P leader Dr. Farooq Sattar has launched a scathing critique of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), labeling the recent Gul Plaza tragedy a "textbook example of worst performance" and systemic administrative failure under the 18-year provincial rule.
Speaking after a visit to the inquiry commission, Sattar presented a series of hard-hitting points regarding the incident:

* Administrative Failure: Sattar asserted that the tragedy was not a mere accident but a result of administrative incompetence and the misuse of authority.
* Documentary Evidence: He claimed that "shocking documents" have surfaced following the incident, pointing toward deep-rooted irregularities within provincial departments.
The SBCA Shift: He highlighted a historical shift in governance, noting that the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) used to function under the elected Mayor, implying that centralized provincial control has degraded oversight.
Regulatory History: Clarifying the building's legal status, Sattar mentioned that the regularization of Gul Plaza occurred back in 2003 during Niamatullah Khan’s tenure.
Political Accountability
Sattar questioned the value of human life under the current regime, asking, "Can any political party be allowed to let such tragedies happen again?" He praised the swift response of the Governor of Sindh, who was the first official to reach the site, contrasting this with the provincial government's perceived apathy.

While expressing confidence that the Commission's inquiry is currently aligned with the requirements of justice, the MQM leader emphasized that his party is actively pursuing the case to ensure those responsible for the "misuse of power" are held accountable.
