Residents Protest Against Illegal Power Connections in Karachi

Karachi: Residents of Block S, North Nazimabad, staged a strong protest against large-scale electricity theft in their area, demanding immediate action from K-Electric.
According to locals, multiple illegal kunda connections have been installed on electricity poles near houses A-237 and A-217, leading to continuous power theft. The direct burden, they said, falls on those consumers who regularly pay their electricity bills.
Residents complained that due to electricity theft, they face up to 10 hours of unfair load-shedding daily, severely disrupting household life, businesses, students’ education, and routine activities. They stressed that power theft is not only an injustice to honest consumers but also causes millions of rupees in financial losses to K-Electric.
The residents further stated that they have submitted a formal complaint along with evidence to the IBC General Manager, appealing for urgent intervention.
Protesters demanded that illegal kunda connections be removed immediately, strict legal action be taken against those involved in electricity theft, and uninterrupted, fair supply of electricity be ensured for bill-paying consumers.
