DNA Confirms Identity in Karachi’s Mir Raza Case, Investigation Team Expands

Karachi — The mystery surrounding the tragic death of young Mir Raza Ali has taken a decisive turn as forensic DNA results confirmed that the body recovered from Gulistan-e-Johar was indeed his. The samples matched those of his parents, according to officials at the Sindh Forensic DNA and Serology Department.

The newly formed investigative team has also reached out to the National Crime & Counter Intelligence Agency (NCCIA), submitting a request to determine whether Mir Raza had faced any threats prior to his death.

Scene Inspection

Senior police officials, including SSP Ali Raza, visited the site where the body was discovered. Accompanied by Mir Raza’s family, they examined the surroundings, questioned the gardener who first spotted the body, and spoke to nursery staff nearby. Photographs and detailed notes were taken to reconstruct the circumstances of the discovery.

Forensic Revelations

Investigators revealed that Mir Raza’s shirt underwent chemical examination, which detected traces of hydrochloric acid. Gunshot residue (GSR) was found on the back of the shirt, suggesting the fatal shot was fired from behind. Further analysis uncovered elements of sedatives in his blood, raising suspicions that he may have been drugged before being shot.

Family’s Response

Human rights lawyer Jibran Nasir, representing Mir Raza’s parents, stated:

“It has been 13 days since the incident. The family is cooperating fully with investigators and withholding nothing. They remain hopeful that the police will now act decisively.”

Investigation Team Strengthened

The special police team probing the case has been expanded to seven members, with DSP Sirajuddin and Inspector Muhammad Ali newly added. Officials believe the strengthened team will accelerate progress in uncovering the truth behind Mir Raza’s death.
