Deputy Chief of the US Mission in Pakistan, Andrew Shofer, arrived in Karachi. The purpose of the visit was to highlight the American commitment to cooperation in the fields of health and education in Pakistan, including the Pak-America Green Alliance framework.
Deputy Chief of the US Mission in Pakistan, Andrew Schoffer, visited Karachi from May 31 to June 3. He participated in a round table discussion with Naval Affairs Minister Faisal Sabzwari, government officials and private sector heads. The purpose of the discussion was to identify new ways to develop environment-friendly shipping activities in Pakistan on modern lines.
This will help in reducing greenhouse gas emissions in shipping activities. Deputy Chief of the American Mission, Andrew Schofer, met with the twenty-four students and teachers, who will go to the United States under the American grant and be part of the NASA space mission. A grant of two and a half million dollars has been issued from the funds of the American Consulate in Karachi for the promotion of science, technology, engineering and mathematics education in schools in backward areas.
Andrew Schoffer, Deputy Head of the American Mission, also participated in the closing ceremony of the English Works program with the support of the US government. The purpose of the program is to provide students from economically weak and disadvantaged areas with the opportunity to learn the English language and skills related to the jobs of the 21st century. During the visit, the Deputy Head of the US Mission in Karachi also met with business representatives, civil society, media and private sector leaders.
