Seth Ramji Shah Maheshwari/Karaar. Umarkot was a great seeth of the region, a landowner and a member of a prosperous family.
It was also said that the herdsmen came to Umarkot with cattle during the Sumerian era.
They say that Seth Ramji's wells were full of money. He used to pay money on account.
They say that there were some contractors or businessmen in Delhi who needed lakhs for some matter. Where are you not getting money from?
Someone said, "Only Seth Ramji Shah of Umarkot can give so much money."
Along with his zamindari, Ramji Shah also had shops and businesses. He used to get up at five o'clock in the morning, take water and worship, and come to the temple. used to do the work of citizens and questioners, he used to come at ten o'clock to open the rice cart in front of his Shahi Bazar and close it at four o'clock in the evening.
This house still exists today. which is now owned by Seth Ghani's family. Seth Ramji Shah, Rani Ratan Singh's tea was also fed to the citizens in that historical place.
The people of Delhi came together and reached Umarkot. They inquired in the Shahi Bazar that a shopkeeper said that he was selling clothes washed in front of him. It was Ramji Shah. When they saw Ramji Shah, they looked at each other and started laughing. Seeing them laughing, the shopkeeper asked, "What's the matter?" They explained the truth, then the shopkeeper said, "Don't worry, you have reached the right place. Go to Seth's room at six o'clock in the evening!"
They went to Seth's room in the evening and he was sitting on the room wearing other clothes. Seth said to them, "You look like a new person. I saw you walking around the city the other day. How are you?" Then they openly stated that we are so-and-so people from Delhi. We need more money. Gold and silver coins were in circulation then. Seth Ramji said,
If you count it, you will count it back, and if you take it, you will give it back."
They took the twelfth month came, they left the accounts.
Seth calculated again that three money was cut in the account. So he sat down and reached Delhi. He looked for them and said to them, "There are three coins in the account."
There were good people before, so they said that you have traveled so far because of three money. We would have come again in the twelfth month, we would have cleared the accounts. Seth said, "There should never be a difference money in the book.
Now you're welcome. Now you don't need to come to Umarkot again. This plot is located near the Delhi Railway Station. Buy it, build a Dharamshala there for travelers, serve the people".
They say that after this Dharamshala was built and how long did it last? When the war broke out, there was a conflict between the Sindhis and the Marwaris who came from here at Dharamshala. But the Sindhis said that this was decided by us Sindhis.
Therefore, the right is ours. Which then the Sindhis got. Kishore R. Thakur says in his commentary that
Wow, this Dharamshala is still there, I have stayed there twice. The best guest house is the Sindhi Dharamshala.
. Ramji Shah's Dharamshala is still standing in the south of Seth Ramji's son Tecum Shah's shrine near Dr. Harchand Roy's old hospital in Umarkot city, which has now become a community center.
