Karachi Master Plan Case: SHC Reserves Verdict
The Sindh High Court has reserved its verdict on a contempt petition filed over non-implementation of Karachi’s Master Plan and Strategic Plan. During the hearing, arguments from all parties were completed before the bench reserved its decision.
Speaking to the media after the hearing, MQM Pakistan leader Dr. Farooq Sattar criticized the Sindh government, claiming billions were spent on the Greater Karachi Strategic Plan 2047 through international consultants, while the original Master Plan remained unimplemented. He alleged widespread violations of the existing plan.
Dr. Sattar further announced that by December 2026, Karachi residents would receive an additional 260 million gallons of water daily, brought in by the federal government — calling it “good news” for the city.
Meanwhile, petitioner’s counsel Tariq Mansoor Advocate argued that the court had already ordered implementation of the Master Plan, but due to continued non-compliance, a fresh contempt petition was filed.
