Chief Secretary and Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Conduct Comprehensive Review of Arrangements and Security for General Elections 2024 A meeting was convened under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudhary and IG Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Akhtar Hayat Khan to discuss preparations for the general elections 2024. During the meeting, special measures for the preparations, security issues, and overall arrangements for the elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were thoroughly reviewed. Additional Chief Secretary Home Department, Secretaries, Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, Regional and District Police Officers attended the meeting. The security and overall arrangements for the general elections were reviewed in detail. Upon the Chief Secretary's direction, officials from other relevant departments and civil defense volunteers will support the police under the supervision of district police officers. CCTV cameras will be installed at all highly sensitive polling stations. The meeting was informed that funds for different facilities at polling stations are provided by the provincial government. The Chief Secretary emphasized the need to ensure uninterrupted elections in snowbound districts and complete adherence to the code of conduct issued by the Election Commission. Expressing satisfaction with the progress, Chief Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry highlighted transparent elections as a top priority. He urged all officers to conduct the elections honestly, emphasizing their role in national duty and full support to the Election Commission of Pakistan. The Chief Secretary directed the clearance of routes for the delivery of election materials in snowbound districts and to ensure the availability of necessary machinery and equipment. Coordination between the Department of Tourism, Local Government, C&W, PKHA, and others in snowbound areas was stressed. Earlier, Chief Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudhary conducted a detailed visit to various schools and polling stations in the Charbagh, District Swat. Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Akhtar Hayat Khan, Additional Chief Secretary Home Department Abid Majeed, Regional Police Officer Malakand Muhammad Ali Khan, Deputy Commissioner Swat Dr Qasim Ali Khan, and District Police Officer Swat Shafiullah Gandapur were also present. The Chief Secretary reviewed CCTV cameras and other polling arrangements, while also being briefed on security arrangements, entry and exit routes for voters on polling day. He directed swift completion of preparations and arrangements in polling stations, with special attention to security to address any untoward incidents. He stressed all necessary facilities should be provided in polling stations.
